Guelph is a small city in Ontario, Canada located about 100 km west of the metropolis of Toronto, Canada’s largest city. With its friendly small-town atmosphere, Guelph has been named several times as one of the best places to live in Canada. 

Postdoctoral Scholars:

  • Start date mutually agreeable time in 2025
  • This is a full-time position at the University of Guelph and is NOT available remotely
  • One year with potential extension to a second year pending satisfactory progress
  • Requirements:
    • Strong knowledge in the use of Monte Carlo and Molecular Dynamics simulation packages  such as GROMACS and Towhee, and Gaussian or a similar electronic structure package
    • Strong knowledge of macroscopic thermodynamics of mixtures
    • Must have received PhD within 5 years of starting the position

PhD Positions:

  • Start date January 2025 or September 2025
  • Funding for 4 years, pending satisfactory progress
  • Option 1: University of Guelph graduate program in Biophysics
  • Option 2: University of Guelph graduate program in Physics
  • Option 3: University of Waterloo graduate program in Chemical Engineering
  • Requirements:
    • MSc in Physics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Mathematics
    • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of Monte Carlo and Molecular Dynamics simulation software packages  such as GROMACS and Towhee, and Gaussian or a similar electronic structure package
    • Some knowledge of macroscopic thermodynamics of mixtures

MSc positions:

  • Start date January 2025 or September 2025
  • Funding for 2 years, contingent on satisfactory progress
  • Option 1: University of Guelph graduate program in Biophysics
  • Option 2: University of Guelph graduate program in Physics
  • Option 3: University of Guelph graduate program in Mathematics and Statistics-AI Specialization
  • Option 4: University of Waterloo graduate program in Chemical Engineering
  • Requirements:
    • Undergraduate degree in Physics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Mathematics)
    • Some knowledge of the use of atomistic simulation methodology and/or electronic structure software
    • Some knowledge of macroscopic thermodynamics of mixtures
